Ghous misses half-century

The USA Under-19 World Cup XI today scored a victory in a practice match against a Canterbury Select XI at Burnside West Christchurch University Ground in Canterbury, New Zealand. The 50-overs match was a warm up for the lads who had arrived in New Zealand some forty-eight hours earlier.

Muhammad Asad Ghous
Canterbury won the toss and elected to take first strike, scoring 167 all out in 48.3 overs. Top scorers for Canterbury were T. Walsh batting at number nine with 33 not out, along with opener C. McGoldrick, 30 and number three batsman C. McConchie, 31.

Canterbury XI started off well, but some very tight spin bowling in the middle by the US trio of Shah, Saleem and Ghous pulled it back for USA. At one point Canterbury was reeling at 103 for 7, before an 8th wicket partnership of 59 runs between H. Teale, 22, and the aforementioned T. Walsh, 33 gave the home team a decent total to defend.
