In a clash of the two undefeated teams Uganda defeated USA to secure a birth in the WCL Division 3 final. Uganda posted a modest 175 batting first but totally outplayed the USA, as the US was dismissed 82 runs short of the mark, all out for 93.
Earlier Uganda was under pressure batting first losing two wickets in the first four overs as Timroy Allen and Elmore Hutchinson both broke through. A 79 run stand for Uganda steadied things however through the middle overs. USA were able to grab the momentum back at the end of the innings managing to effect 4 important run outs, eventually dismissing Uganda for 175 in the last over of the innings. The wickets were shared amongst the USA bowlers with Timroy Allen the only to pick up two wickets finishing with 2-37.
In reply the USA batting performance never threatened. Uganda consistently took wickets and did not allow a USA partnership to get going, as they were dismissed for disappointing 93 in the 40th over. USA will be looking for far better application with the bat in tomorrow’s crucial game against Bermuda.
If USA beat Bermuda tomorrow they will assure themselves a rematch against Uganda in the final and also progress to the World Cup Qualifying event in New Zealand in 2014.
