South East Region Men and Western Conference Women Take National T20 Championship Titles

The South East Region men’s team led by Steven Taylor, defended its national T20 title by defeating the North West Region team by 6 wickets in the 2016 edition of the T20 national tournament. The Western Conference women’s team led by Nadia Gruny, got the better of the Eastern Conference team by winning two out of three games.

The 2016 USACA National T20 Championship was held at the Central Broward Regional Park in Lauderhill, Florida from November 18 to 20. Eight men’s teams representing each of the eight USACA regional teams participated, and the women’s teams were split into two conferences – Western Conference and Eastern Conference.

The men’s teams played a total of 15 day/night matches while the women played three games, all in the stadium facility. First Vice President, Owen Grey, said USACA wanted to ensure the women got the best treatment possible.

“We have adopted ICC’s approach to have the women’s competition play alongside the men because we believe it’s a good step to help raise the profile of the women’s game. However, we differed slightly in our approach by prioritizing our women teams to utilize the best facilities we’ve got. The outcome and feedback has been very positive and we’re happy to provide this platform for the women,” said Grey.

USACA is appreciative for the support and sponsorship by partner, Global Sports Ventures, LLC, as well as the support of all volunteers who collaborated to make this tournament a success.
